Blue Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus)
Is a tasty oyster mushroom that grows in clusters and ranges in color from greyish to grey-blue. Blue oysters have a savory ‘woodsy’ flavor although, reportedly, some taste a mild licorice or even a seafood flavor. They have a meaty and slightly chewy texture and are enjoyed in various dishes around the world. You can add blue oysters to stews, soups, stir-frys, sauces, make side dishes, and use them as a pizza topping. If you are using the blue oyster mushroom for stir-fry, a side dish, or pizza topping, we recommend to sauté them first before adding other ingredients.
It’s best to store them in a paper bag or in a plastic bag that is only partially closed in the main compartment of your fridge.
